Francisco Martinez was a dancer with Compania Nacional de Danza (Spain), and Ballet Royal de Wallonie (Belgium).

He received his training at the National Ballet School in Spain, Maria de Avila Dance School and with Victor Ullate. Martinez obtained his Ballet Degree from the Royal Conservatory of Dance in Madrid (Spain) and also graduated from the Dance Education Laboratory at the 92nd Street Y Harkness Dance Center in New York City. He graduated Summa Cum laude from ESC with a BA in the arts. Mr. Martinez is also a certified Hatha yoga and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) instructor.

Martinez was a guest rehearsal director for Ballet Hispanico of New York from 1996 to 2000 and has been a guest teacher for Les Grands Ballets Canadiens de Montreal, BJM Danse-Ballet Jazz de Montreal, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Compania Nacional de Danza (Spain), Ballet British Columbia (BBC), Cedar Lake contemporary Ballet, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, Lyon Opera Ballet and  Netherlands Dance Theater, among others.

He has also been a faculty member of Sarah Lawrence College, Arts Umbrella (Vancouver,CA), Boston Ballet School, San Francisco Ballet School,The Ailey School (Fordham BFA), Marymount Manhattan college and BAE as a Ballet instructor, and in the fall 2009 he became a full time faculty member of the Juilliard School in New York City where he is currently working.

Martinez has been the associate director of the Jacob's Pillow Contemporary Dance Program since 2022.
